- Star light, star bright,
- The first star I see tonight;
- I wish I may, I wish I might,
- Have the wish I wish tonight
And their wish was granted - with a little effort on their part too!
Dream MachineYesterday a little bit of history was made when a team from the Isle of Man smashed the World land-speed record out on the romantically named Bonneville salt flats in Utah on a 500cc Manxman. It sounds like a dream and apparently felt like it too...
Mr Barks, the man who actually rode the winning ride, said:
"It's been tremendous really and a bit like a dream. The whole team has pulled together to make this happen."
"We completed our runs in the mornings because it is really hot out here and the bike runs better in the cooler temperatures."
The Isle of Man Lonan Gentlemen's Fellowship team beat the previous record which was unbeaten since 1973 for a 500cc special construction partial streamlined blown fuel machine, with an amazing 188.73mph - this topped the record by a brilliant 12mph.
